Jesus, Lover of My Soul

Jesus, Lover of My Soul

“But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. (Romans 5:8)”

Ruminating on those days and times when one was still in the world and imagining how Jesus has helped one to scaled through till now. Hmm, scaling through those unconscious and ungodly daily life living back then, it is a form of miracle and a story for another day.

According to the book of Romans 5:8b. While we are still, Christ died for us. It’s a fact, that Jesus Our Lord is the lover of our soul.

Reading through the Bible passage Romans 5 from verse 1 to 11 (KJV), You’ll have more understanding of His Love for our soul. Verse 6 “For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly”.

This same kind of love can be compared to the one extended to Saul that later became Paul in the bible. While he was still Saul, the bible recorded that he persecutes the people of God (Act 9: 1 – 19). The bible said in verse 3 -4, Saul kept up his violent threats of murder against the followers of the Lord, but as he was coming near the city of Damascus, suddenly a light from the sky flashed round him, he fell to the ground and heard a voice saying to him,Saul, Saul! Why do you persecute me?” (GNB).

The story of Saul became more interesting in the book of Act 9 verse 11 when God started the miracle of Saul receiving back his sight through Ananias. Why Saul was yet a sinner, persecuting the people of God. He received mercy through Jesus the lover of his soul. If Jesus can show love to Saul, he can show the same love to you today. If you are willing and obedient, you will eat the good things of the land (Isaiah 1:19)

From the story of love received by Saul and how he turned out in return to be one of the greatest preachers of the gospel. It means there is a purpose for this Love of God. He was saved to save others. Saul later became one of the greatest preachers of the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ and fulfils the purpose of the lover of his soul.

Now that you know. The love of God over you are for a purpose and the purpose is that you have been saved to save others by His grace. For the love not to be in vain, it is important that one knows the purpose for the love and must also extend this love to people around, talk about the love of God for your soul and how Jesus loves all.

Now, the question is that! What do you think the Lord deserve in return for His love for your soul?

If not for Jesus, think about it, where are you going to be now? Think about the battle He has fought on your behalf, knowing and unknowingly. Think about many more thing the Love of Jesus is doing on your life and family. The Lord deserves more in return, but to mention a few:

  1. The Lord deserves our praises and worship. Psalm 68:19 “Praise be to the Lord, to God our Savior, who daily bears our burdens”.
  2. The Lord deserves to be proclaimed. 2 Timothy 4:2 “Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.”
  3. The Lord deserves to be honoured. Revelation 4:10-11 “You are worthy, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honour and power, for you created all things, and by your will, they were created and have their being”.
  4. The Lord deserves to be venerated and adore. Matthew 22:37 “Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.

Maybe you’re like me, I always think of his love for me, in my imperfection, the Lord is perfect, in my unfaithful the Lord has been faithful and in my unrighteousness the Lord remaineth righteous. I have made up my mind that in return. I will praise and worship Him, I will honour Him, adore Him and proclaim His Holy Name. So help me God!

Let’s keep praying to the Lord for an excellent spirit to fulfil the purpose of His love for our soul and the grace to remain gracious for His love. Shallon!

Prayer Point:

  1. Dear Lord, I thank you for your love for my soul to date.
  2. Dear Lord, I thank you for choosing me, loving me and blessing me.
  3. Dear Lord, Please forgive all my shortcoming and fill me with your Spirit.
  4. Dear Lord, Please continue to sustain and support me, that I will not take your love for granted.
  5. Dear Lord, Please elevate me beyond the level that I will be untouchable to the devil.
